Amazon Update - The Madhatter's Tea Party

posted Wednesday, 16 April 2008
Amazon, Amazon, Amazon.
I tried again to modify and correct the 138 page issue of AAM 2 before submitting to the cruel people of Createspace/Amazon.  I have done this countless times and it usually runs about 4 hours from page 1 to 138.  Fine, I accept this as being the publisher of the wonderful and highly desired collection of rousing tales of adventure this little ePulp represents.  I just want to get this puppy on Amazon to open more markets and add different levels of respectability to AAM to better serve our creators.
Well, I have the rejects from Createspace that tell me repeatedly that the margins are not correct.  I have reset this margin over and over.  Others have reset the margins to Amazon's spec and still the turn down.
I finally got a hold of someone to check into the situation.  Here is what they said.
"The margins you are referring to are margins set on a page size of 8.125 x 10.25".
The text file was submitted at the page size of 8.125" wide10.25" high. The text block is not set up properly for the trim size of 5.25 x 8, and much of the text will be cut off when the book is trimmed to size. Please go back into the native program which was used to create the PDF and set a page size of 5.25 x 8, then set your margins."

Did you see what they said? 5.25x8 is why my margins are wrong. However, I submitted the files to trim at 8x10! They have been using the wrong trim sizes on their end.
"We apologize for the confusion regarding your trim size and appreciate your patience in the matter."
Ah, ah, aaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
Next letter from them.
"The interior file meets the submission specifications; it is not necessary for you to make any revisions to this file or upload it again."
Yea! Everything is milk and honey right?
"The cover file is too small to fit the selected trim size. You may wish to review the Artwork and Templates section, available under the Books section on the Help tab."
SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The cover is not right after months of it meeting specifications! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Wow, I didn't realize going mad could be so freeing.
